Mobilize Rescue Systems has been named a Medical Innovations Finalist in the 2018 Edison Awards. The Edison Awards, named after Thomas Alva Edison, recognizes and honors the world’s best in innovators and innovations. The Edison Awards will announce gold, silver and bronze award winners at the 31st Annual Edison Awards held Wednesday, April 11, 2018 in New York City.
"We are proud to be announced as a finalist along with such innovative medical companies,” said Jason Gotham, co-founder of Mobilize Rescue Systems. "Technology is going to completely transform the pre-hospital care landscape, and we are honored to have developed a system to improve the ability of civilians to respond life-threatening emergencies.”
The Mobilize Rescue System is a new technology that unites knowledge and equipment to help an untrained bystander save a life while they wait for the ambulance to arrive. The system uses an interactive app to help a bystander manage critical medical emergencies such as severe bleeding, cardiac arrest, overdoses, seizures, choking, hypothermia and more. The system also provides the medical supplies bystanders need to save lives, in the form of a Comprehensive, Mobile, Compact or Public Access Trauma & Medical Emergency Station.
"Most people want to help during an emergency,” said Dr. Joseph Bart, the Medical Director at Mobilize Rescue Systems. "They want to do more, but they’re not necessarily sure how. The app makes it possible for them to act.”
Established in 1987 and often described as "the Oscars of Innovation,” the Edison Awards recognizes and honors the world's best innovations and innovators. All nominations were reviewed by the Edison Awards Steering Committee and the final ballot sent to an independent judging panel. The judging panel was comprised of more than 3,000 professionals from the fields of product development, design, engineering, science, marketing and education, including professional organizations representing a wide variety of industries and disciplines.
"It would be impossible to empower an entire community overnight with traditional training methods,” said Seth Goldstein, the Director of Training & Education at Mobilize Rescue Systems. "The Mobilize Rescue app makes it possible for bystanders to deliver high-quality care by following the ‘just-in-time’ training algorithm, even if they’ve never set foot in a bleeding control course.”
In response to recent tragic events and the Department of Homeland Security’s Stop the Bleed and Until Help Arrives initiatives, there has been a renewed interest in training civilians to manage critical medical emergencies. Mobilize Rescue Systems' new technology provides a cost-effective method to equip entire communities, organizations, and individuals to stop massive bleeding while EMS is en route. The Mobilize Rescue System has been implemented by federal and law enforcement agencies, security and investigations agencies, K-12 schools and universities, public and private organizations, and has already been used to manage multiple medical emergencies across the country.
