Mobilize Rescue Systems was awarded the "Medical Innovations" BRONZE Edison Award during the 2018 Edison Awards on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 in New York City. The Edison Awards, named after Thomas Alva Edison, has recognized and honored some of the most innovative new products, services and business leaders in the world.
"I am extremely humbled to accept this award on behalf of Mobilize Rescue Systems," said Jason Gotham, President and Co-Founder of Mobilize Rescue Systems. "Since our mission as a company is to empower bystanders to save lives, we are honored that our new technology has already been used to manage unthinkable medical emergencies across the country. That is the best reward of all."
The Mobilize Rescue System is a new technology that unites knowledge and equipment to help an untrained bystander save a life while they wait for the ambulance to arrive. The system uses an interactive app to help a bystander manage critical medical emergencies such as severe bleeding, cardiac arrest, overdoses, seizures, choking, hypothermia and more. The system also provides the medical supplies bystanders need to save lives, in the form of a Comprehensive, Mobile, Compact or Public Access Rescue Station.
"Most people want to help during an emergency,” said Dr. Joseph Bart, the Medical Director at Mobilize Rescue Systems. "They want to do more, but they’re not necessarily sure how. The app makes it possible for them to act.”
Established in 1987 and often described as "the Oscars of Innovation,” the Edison Awards recognizes and honors the world's best innovations and innovators. All nominations were reviewed by the Edison Awards Steering Committee and the final ballot sent to an independent judging panel. The judging panel was comprised of more than 3,000 professionals from the fields of product development, design, engineering, science, marketing and education, including professional organizations representing a wide variety of industries and disciplines.
"It would be impossible to empower an entire community overnight with traditional training methods,” said Seth Goldstein, the Director of Training & Education at Mobilize Rescue Systems. "The Mobilize Rescue app makes it possible for bystanders to deliver high-quality care by following the ‘just-in-time’ training algorithm, even if they’ve never set foot in a bleeding control course.”
In response to recent tragic events and theDepartment of Homeland Security’s Stop the Bleed and Until Help Arrives initiatives, there has been a renewed interest in training civilians to manage critical medical emergencies. Mobilize Rescue Systems' new technology provides a cost-effective method to equip entire communities, organizations, and individuals to stop massive bleeding while EMS is en route.
"Our judges recognized the Mobilize Rescue System as a true innovation out of the many products in its category,” said Frank Bonafilia, executive director of the Edison Awards.
The Mobilize Rescue System has been implemented by federal and law enforcement agencies, security and investigations agencies, K-12 schools and universities, public and private organizations, and has already been used to manage multiple medical emergencies across the country.
