The Mobilize Rescue App Feature: the "Call 911" Button
What it does: The Mobilize Rescue App will prompt a bystander to call 911 after massive bleeding has been stopped using a "Call 911” button housed in the app – making it as easy as possible to get in touch with emergency responders.
Why it’s important: The Mobilize Rescue App will make sure that a bystander doesn’t forget to call 911 after they manage severe bleeding.
*a little known fact: with severe bleeding, you may have to stop the bleeding BEFORE you call 911 – since severe bleeding can become fatal in less than 5 minutes, and help might not have arrived. If there are two bystanders present, one person can call 911 while the other stops the bleed.
The Emergency Scenario: Car accident
You’re at the scene of a car accident, and stop to help since you are prepared with a bleeding control kit that you keep in your car in case there’s an emergency. You rush over to the vehicle, and see that the driver is bleeding from a cut in their arm. You launch the Mobilize Rescue App on your phone, and follow the instructions to apply a tourniquet, apply direct pressure with QuikClot, and to place a pressure dressing.
Once you stop the bleeding, you follow the instructions to rule out other emergencies and place an emergency blanket on the victim. As soon as the life-threats have been managed, the Mobilize Rescue App will prompt you to "Call 911”, using a button housed in the app. Once emergency responders have been contacted, all that’s left for you to do is wait with the victim for help to arrive.
The Bystander & EMS Benefit: Ensuring there’s a life to save on arrival
Since severe bleeding can become fatal in less than five minutes, it’s important to stop the bleed as quickly as possible to help a victim stay alive until the professional responders can arrive and take over providing care.
The Mobilize Rescue App was designed to make sure that bystanders give a victim the best chance of survival, and to help ensure that no one forgets to call 911 in the middle of an unthinkable emergency.
The Organizational Benefit:
The Mobilize Rescue App’s 911 feature can give safety leaders peace of mind that proper medical protocols will be followed, even in the heat of a medical emergency.
