The App Feature: The Summary Screen
What it does: The Mobilize Rescue App provides a time-stamped summary of important actions taken during an emergency.
Why it’s important: Medical professionals can provide better care when they have more information about the life-saving care you’ve already administered leading up to their arrival. All they have to do is snap a photo of the ‘Summary Screen’ when they arrive at the scene of the emergency.
The Emergency Scenario: Managing Massive Bleeding at Work
You’re sitting at your desk when you hear a shout outside your office. You step out and see one of your coworkers holding their arm, trying to stop the bleeding from a cut from a broken piece of glass. You took your company’s Stop the Bleed class earlier this year, but in the heat of the moment you can’t quite remember what to do. You ask one of your colleagues to call 911, and you open the Mobilize Rescue App on your phone.
You read out the Mobilize Rescue App’s instructions to apply a tourniquet, apply direct pressure with QuikClot, and to place a pressure dressing. Once you stop the bleeding, you follow the instructions to rule out other emergencies and place an emergency blanket on your co-worker.
The Summary Screen will show the time that you began to control the bleeding with a tourniquet, applied direct pressure, pressure dressing, and removed your gloves.
The Bystander Benefit: Better Concentration While Providing Care
The Mobilize Rescue App automatically records the time that a bystander starts taking key interventions, so that the bystander can focus 100% of their attention on providing care.
The EMS Benefit: Better Data for Continuing Care
Having a time-stamped summary of an emergency eliminates uncertainty about exactly what happened, when it happened, and how the bystander provided care. In the example above, emergency responders would be able to look at the Mobilize Rescue App’s time-stamped summary to learn when the tourniquet was applied - a critical piece of information since a tourniquet should only be applied for around two hours before the possibility of harm.
The Organizational Benefit: Better Reporting after Emergencies
The Mobilize Rescue App reduces the likelihood of human error in reporting, since the treatment summary screen provides an accurate record of when medical interventions took place. From a training perspective, a training officer could assign an emergency scenario to a trainee, and could check their work afterwards by looking at the summary screen.
